News: It’s a big win for the former Modern Warfare devs as Activision pay out £26 million as part of the pre-trial legal battle.
It’s been a long up hill slog for the Ex-Infinity Ward staff Jason West and Vincent Zampella in their legal battle against Activision over their wrongful termination and $125 million in missing royalties. Today we’ve gotten news that Activision has payed out $42 million of that as part of a pre-trial payout.
The lump sum will be distributed amongst 40 individuals seeking payment for their work on Modern Warfare 2 after many were mysteriously sacked following the game’s completion.
“Although it is a meaningful payment it is only a small portion of what we are seeking in litigation,” Bruce Isaacs, attorney for the ex-Infinity Ward staffers, told Polygon.
“It is outrageous that they made us wait, they obviously knew they owed the money and this just shows that they breached the contract.”
It’s all rather silly, with Activision claiming they sacked both West and Zampella due to them holding secret talks with their rivals at EA. The pair still hold that Activision is in the wrong but for now, it seem that the debate is far from over.
Someone get Phoenix Wright in here on the double!
